Oryza manages to break down the barrier that many high-end resorts have, where their guests do not see and experience real Vietnam.

Oryza Villa absorbs what real Hoi An is all about, showcasing an authentic rural Vietnam to travellers. Hidden really can’t think of a better way to do this than from the edge of a rice field. So read on for our review of this stunning new accommodation option.
Oryza Villa – The Concept
These days it is far too easy to travel through Vietnam without ever really getting an honest feel for local life and what the country is about. With Oryza this trend is reversed and what has resulted is a kind of villa that engages with the local environment, encouraging an authentic connection.
The true beauty of Vietnam can easily be missed by staying at the many resorts that have popped up all over Vietnam. Newer hotels in the centre of town can create a barrier between tourists and the life lived by locals. Therefore making it harder to build an authentic connection to the country and its people. Oryza Villa’s aim is to showcase what rural Hoi An has to offer and do this in a beautiful environment. Through its location Oryza succeeds in allowing travellers to escape the somewhat controlled environment of a resort.
Oryza Villa – The Location
Oryza has everything that you can think of when imagining a rural setting in Vietnam. Sweeping rice fields on three sides, farmers in conical hats, buffalo wandering around. It’s the picture postcard version of Vietnam. The villa’s location is ideal for those chasing that authentic connection to Hoi An and its people. Allowing you to absorb what real Vietnam is all about.
Oryza Villa – The Design
Oryza is a new-build villa and in it’s rural setting it retains its originality. But the villa is in no way a replica farm house. Instead it evokes a feeling of the rural surroundings without being too overt or creating a cliched rural theme. Designed to fit into its environment, not the other way round.
The villa is designed with couples in mind, particularly those looking to experience something authentic and unique. They will be drawn in by the peace, tranquility and privacy of the villa. That said, anyone wanting to get out of the rat race and enjoy some peace will enjoy a stay at Oryza Villa.
Oryza Villa has been intelligently designed with its surrounding environment in mind. The large windows all have a Solar E reflective coating – the premium option for heat resistance. The design uses double-brick sandwiching insulation.. Meaning these walls are thick! There will be no unwanted disturbances here and the AC holds the villa at a consistent cool temperature due to the thickness of the walls.
The Exterior
Outside, the L-shaped wooden deck and array of seating offer stunning views accompanied by a fresh breeze to cool you down. At the front of the villa a coconut palm leans lazily over the infinity pool overlooking the rice fields. Twin sunbeds beckon you when you do decide it’s time to finally leave the water.
From the villa’s deck you can hear flocks of ducks quacking. Sitting back in your deckchair you can watch herds of water buffaloes graze through the rice fields. Look skywards and you might catch a glimpse of the local birdlife as herons circle and fly overheard this high-end villa
It’s clearly a modern house yet from many angles it looks quite traditional. The décor and landscaping falls in line with this. You won’t find manicured grass gardens here, they would just take away from the beauty of the wild rice fields. Nature always does a better job than man so no golf course type perfections here. The villa’s veggie garden fits perfectly here.
The Villa Interior
Walking in the standout feature has to be the huge panel windows – there to put rural Vietnam on display. The villa is airy and bathed in light and you will simply never tire of the ever-changing view. Immersed in the rice fields, this location is nothing short of picturesque.
Inside, Oryza Villa is open plan throughout with very high ceilings. The large space (xxm2) has a clean and minimalistic design. The dining and living areas have been tastefully furnished by local craftsmen using natural materials. Many of the pieces are one-off designs, made with the attention and care of someone who truly loves their work.
Window seats beckon you to curl up in them with a good book or just to gaze out over the ever-changing landscape. From the inside of the villa you get to experience the rural feel of Vietnam along with creature comforts. The windows give you the feeling of being with nature even as you sit in your armchair.
In the kitchen area there’s a solid wood breakfast bar sourced from a local boat village. The villa has a spacious kitchen with gas cooking facilities. The space is inviting as you can visualise yourself preparing food whilst looking out over the rice fields. The villa is fully stocked.with kitchen utensils and basic condiments.
The Bedroom
The indoors and outdoors merge with a small interior sand garden, complete with trees and stepping stones, separating the bedroom from the living area. Thus further Oryza Villa manages to merge the indoors with the outdoors. The large XX sized bed looks out to the ricefields so you can watch the changing colours from dawn till dusk. Avoid the inner city’s light pollution and star gaze straight up from the comfort of your bed through the large roof skylights,
Beyond the bedroom is the privacy of a large ensuite bathroom with twin walk-in showers and walk-through changing area. There is quality bedding and towelling throughout the accommodation along with a washing machine
