Where to find swimwear, inflatables, sunscreen, and more
Roadside stalls selling anything and everything you can imagine are common in many parts of Vietnam. Loud, colourful, and fun inflatables pool toys are no exception. Therefore it can be quite amusing seeing a neon orange inflatable doughnut next to a hot pink flamingo in a landscape of children’s toys! Above all these shops are full of the promise of fun.

In Hoi An, these can be found at the beach end of Cua Dai Road and on the approach to An Bang beach. They offer swim shorts, bikinis, hats, sunglasses, swimming rafts, and various miscellaneous pool party toys — all the things you need before visiting Hoi An’s best pools. However, prices are generally unmarked in these informal shops. Therefore, remember to bargain down the initial cost. For instance, if you are buying a couple of items, ask for a multiple purchase discount.
However, branded swimwear is more difficult to find in these shops. But there’s a Hot Tuna shop in the Old Town that offers quality bikinis and swimwear accessories. For sunscreen and mosquito repellent, visit the local pharmacies (Nha Thuoc Tay) or convenience stores in Hoi An. Hidden recommends 9 Mart as they store a range of products with current stock dates. You can read more about what they stock in our grocery shopping article here.
Hidden Hint: Be sure to check the expiry dates for perishable items like sunscreen.
